MY WORK

Coffee, specially curated Spotify playlists, spreadsheets, and hundreds of text messages have all contributed to this portfolio of work I have the pleasure to share with you. Click the buttons in any section below to see my work on The Muse and my journey as a student journalist:

Editing, Leadership & Teambuilding

After dealing with the difficulties I faced as a web staffer, I sought to bring improvements for the web as website editor and later, managing editor. Communication and organization are what I value most in leading my staffers so that we can have a quality website. I also actively advocate and support my staff so that they may grow successfully as journalists.

Web & Social Media

Online journalism is a powerful tool that can be useful for getting out information as quickly and as efficiently as possible. I always strive to make the website and our social media places for all things Muse as well as a place for school information. Through these platforms, we can share more voices and show others what we do on our publication.

Design

I strive to improve upon the website, including its design — even if it means endless scrolling through SNOSites and a lot of trial-and-error. Having a visually appealing and navigatable website allows for more engagement on our website. With this, I can ensure the content we produce is seen and the voices we give are heard.

Laws, Ethics & News Literacy

Laws and ethics exist in journalism. My time on The Muse gave me a glimpse into the real world that was much different from any encounter I've faced. Through my work as a web editor, I've matured in my understanding of the law and ethics. I strive to ensure that these are upheld by not only myself but others as well.

Reporting & Writing

Even if most of my responsibilities are geared towards maintaining and running The Muse website, I still try to engage myself in reporting to be another person who can provide a voice for the Dreyfoos community. Balancing editor duties and writing had seen some difficulties but had been a major learning experience.

About Me

The Muse greatly impacted and changed me, not only as a journalist but also as a person. I have learned valuable lessons and matured in ways I hadn't expected when attending my first class as a Muse staffer. As oversaid as it is, I would never be where I am today if it weren't for the experiences I've had as a student journalist.
