DESIGN

I strive to improve upon the website, including its design — even if it means endless scrolling through SNOSites and a lot of trial-and-error. Having a visually appealing and navigatable website allows for more engagement on our website. With this, I can ensure the content we produce is seen and the voices we give are heard.

Working alongside the web editor during my first year on The Muse, I stepped my foot into designing a website for the first time. Even when that first redesign was completed and I had taken the torch, I still wanted to keep changing and redesigning. With InDesign certification, multiple notes and critiques from experts, and approximately 30 hours of staring at other news websites, I've been able to improve upon the homepage design.

Redesigning a Website

Site Designer Page

Below is one redesign I did of the homepage. It is a combination of the collaborative redesign I did as a staffer and the additions I made as an editor. The goal I wanted to achieve was making the website navigatable and connected to other online aspects of the publication (i.e. social media, online issues, YouTube). After numerous trial-and-error, reloading the page, watching the page crash, I was able to redesign the homepage you see below.
